Provider credentialing is the process of assessing the qualifications of a provider. Insurance payers verify this information before the provider is included as a participating provider.
CAQH stands for Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare. CAQH is a provider database with information about the provider and that is used by insurance payers to verify the provider's credentials.
The credentialing process can take any where from 30 days to six months. In some cases it could be longer than 6 months depending on the payer, and their back log.
